Congress storms back to office
Apang, Dolo, Gyurme, Khrimey, Tater and Tayeng losers
ITANAGAR, Oct 22: Citizens have sent Indian National Congress back to power with a resounding victory. Of the 60 seats, Congress won a comfortable 42 seats.
However there were major upsets for the Congress party. Former Chief Minister Gegong Apang and Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo lost their seats. The Chief Minister’s Chief Advisor Tsering Gyurmey, Education Minister Tater Kipa and IPR Minister Lombo Tayeng lost their electoral battle as well.
In Chayang Tajo Karya Bagang of All India Trinamool Congress created a record of sort when she ended veteran leader Kameng Dolo’s long political innings by a margin of 344 votes.
Joining Bagang in the legislative assembly is Nang Sati Mein, an independent candidate who recorded more than five thousand votes against her nearest rival.
This election also saw AITC making a good debut with five wins and revival of People’s Party of Arunachal who won four seats while NCP won five seats.
BJP managed to mark its presence in three seats.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister while addressing the media said that Congress government would carry forward the work for the development of the state.
While thanking the people of the state for reposing their faith in Congress party, he said that numbers were predictable and that people of the state returned those who performed.
He said that Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting would be convened in a day or two to elect the new leader.

Dalai Lama to visit Arunachal on Nov. 8

The Dalai Lama is expected to give spiritual lessons beginning on Nov. 8 to his followers in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, which is at the centre of a border dispute between two countries who have been trying to reduce tensions recently.
"His Holiness will be flying directly from Guwahati to Tawang on the 8th (Nov)," Tenzin Taklha told Reuters.
The announcement of the Dalai Lama's trip comes days before the prime ministers of India and China are to meet in Thailand to defuse mounting rhetoric over their border dispute, which has led to fears the rivalry could spin out of control.

Economic blockade not justifiable
Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to convey my strong disapproval at the so called ‘economic blockade’ imposed by various organizations in Dhemaji district in protest against killing of a driver on Oct 16 by selectively stopping and damaging Arunachal’s vehicles plying in the region and harassing the innocent public.
My deepest condolence is with the bereaved family. Killing of an innocent person is a very unfortunate event and every effort should be made to bring the culprits to the book.
We fully understand the anguish of our neighbour but whatever they are doing is also
equally condemnable. The killer was not a common Arunachalee. The unfortunate incident
had occurred in the dead of the night in an isolated place and the killer had fired
at least 12 rounds from a state-
The common public of Arunachal has no role to play in such a heinous act and the retaliatory action by the public of Dhemaji district is not only hitting the wrong target but also unjustifiable. Such uncivilized and barbaric mob action only worsens the grudge in our neighborhood. The actual culprit(s) must be cooling his heels sipping a mug of beer enjoying the show.
The public of Arunachal are being unnecessarily harassed. This incident highlights two major facts. 1st is our vulnerability, helplessness and dependence on Assam and the second is the arrogant dadagiri of Assam.
Even 62 yrs of post-
A few miscreants put up illegal barricade in a highway, pelting stones at passing vehicles and the state machinery looks the other way. And we sit in our homes, haplessly hoping Dhemaji will have some mercy on us and let us off this time (also).
Its not that people of Assam are not killed at all. In fact, everyday, a lot more people of Assam die in Assam in the hands of militant outfits of that state. And where in the hell are of the guts of these organizations, alaana parishads and falaana sansthas when such killings are occurring in their own backyard?

Congratulations to Sonam Lhamu Monpa for securing the First position in the national level Science Seminar Competition. Such achievement proves once again that we are not lagging behind in anything.
What is more strikingly heartening is Miss Sonam won with the outdated charts presentation which was undoubtedly brilliantly written and painted. Almost all the students from different states made power point presentations.
Undoubtedly the content, pictures and the way Miss Sonam gave her speech must have impressed the eminent judges.
Swamiji always said, ‘Have Faith, Faith, Faith in yourself. This faith has done her wonders. Immense credit to her success must also goes to teachers (Science, Fine Arts and English) and the Matajis and Brahmacharinis who must have been really working hard for this. Well done Sarada Mission!
